about Leather

Lille og Stor's leather products are manufactured to include scratches, wrinkles, and uneven coloring so that you can enjoy the original appearance of the leather.

Why are you doing that?

This is because we believe that making the most of the inherent properties of leather and using it as a tool in its natural state is Lille og Stor's way of showing respect for leather.

The leather accessories we use every day actually have stories hidden within them.

Most mass-produced leather products generally use only the parts that are carefully selected to avoid scratches and wrinkles.

Some kind of processing (thick coating) is done to create uniform leather with no noticeable scratches.

I think this is only natural, as everything is mass-produced with the aim of achieving the same quality.

A by-product produced by tanning the skins of animals that are killed for food.

That is "leather."

Just like humans, cows suffer injuries many times throughout their lives and even develop blemishes and wrinkles.

I think it's natural that each and every one is different.

Although they are the same product, no two are the same.

When you think about it that way, you begin to feel a special attachment to it.

Although it is a durable material, it can wear out, deteriorate, and sometimes rot.

I feel that carefully utilizing the by-products that are produced one after another and continuing to use them in various ways is a way of paying tribute to the life that has been given to us.

Through our products, Lille og Stor hopes to raise awareness and gratitude for the precious things we create, from production to disposal.

With continued use, the color will become deeper and more lustrous.

In other words, even shiny products are still in the process of evolving.

Items that continue to change through the hands of their users are truly one-of-a-kind.

Please come and get your own leather goods.

We hope you will understand this and purchase Lille og Stor products.

About our leather

At Lille og Stor, we use natural cowhides with scratches, wrinkles or uneven colors as they are. Why do we do this? Because we consider it our way to show respect for the materials by creating everyday tools with their original textures.

Here is a little story about leather production around us: many mass-produced leather items are often made with selected parts with no scratches and wrinkles, or they get processed (what we call "thick makeup") to turn into perfect uniformity. So yes, all the products have the same look and quality — that's mass production.

Leather is a by-product made after cattle were consumed as food, after they got injured and developed wrinkles countless times in nature like us humans. Each one of them is unique, no two pieces are identical. We feel a charm in it.

Although they are robust but sometimes worn out, deteriorated or decayed, we are trying to keep using the gift in various ways as much as possible, appreciating the lives and nature. We understand and respect the natural cycle through making things, from production to waste.

The leather deepens its color with use over time, meaning a brand-new item is still on its way to making progress into a unique creation. And you are the one who grows it.

We hope you understand our thoughts on the nature of cowhides when choosing our products.
